EnglishRev™ focuses on survival English for the English language learner. These are the conversations that take place on the playground, at the cafeteria, at a store and all the places where real life meets the English language learner.
Our virtually immersive technology allows the students to become comfortable and confident with their speaking and listening ability before they try it out in the real world. They can even slow down conversations so they can more easily understand them.

Newcomers acquire language more rapidly when they are enjoying the experience. Comics are fun and our learners love them. These are not just any comics; they are carefully crafted speech scoring learning experiences! Learners receive colored feedback on every word they say as they record their parts in the comics.

The EnglishRev™ Comic Curriculum books contain topics that learners experience during their daily interactions. Linda’s adventure in the EnglishRev™ Stories starts in Season 1 when she enters the United States and begins to become immersed in her new environment. In Season 2, Linda continues her journey in the United States as a student and continues to navigate her new surroundings with her new friend Olin.
The topics available in the EnglishRev™ Comic Curriculum Season 1 and 2 are people, food, shelter, money, and work. In Season 2, Linda engages in the topic of school.

Introducing Speaker’s Theater
Once students have mastered the topics in the comic book experience they move on to our “Speaker’s Theater”. “Speaker’s Theater” is an immersive experience that allows students to speak as a character in his or her own play. “Speaker’s Theater” is the traditional “Reader’s Theater” concept promoted by Dr. Tim Rasinski with a RevLearning Suite™ twist. “The goal of this strategy is to help students with their speaking, listening and reading ability by allowing them rehearsal time to practice reading with expression and prosody, the opportunity to read and reread for meaning, and the ability to focus on word meanings” (Rasinski, 2016).
The student gets to choose which character they want to be. They can also choose to be all characters to read the entire “play”. As the part(s) of the play are read, the words get repainted from black to red or green to show pronunciation accuracy. Our powerful speech analytics technology scores the words in real-time so that the student can see what was spoken accurately and what was not. The five-star rating at the top of each page motivates students to try again until they speak and read the words correctly! The real world often seems to fly by at a pace that is too fast for the ELL.
We know this and understand. That is why we empowered the students in EnglishRev™ to control the playback speed of all the model audio they listen to with their very own speed control.
The EnglishRev™ approach helps students be successful in their second language because it uses techniques inherent in learning their first language. The Speaker’s Theater format creates an engaging virtual immersion learning experience.
